Dr. Domenico Giannone

 

Domenico Giannone is Centre Manager at the innoFSPEC Potsdam research and innovation centre (www.innofspec.de). The Centre is funded by the BMBF “Unternehmen Region” program (http://www.unternehmen-region.de/) as the only “Zentrum für Innovationskompetenz” (ZIK) within Brandenburg.

In 2003, Domenico Giannone obtained his Ph.D. with the Photonic Research Group in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Aston University (Birmingham, UK) with a thesis entitled “Experimental and Theoretical Characterization of Tunable Fibre Gratings”. Afterwards he moved to Belgium in Multitel (www.multitel.be) where he was first appointed as head of group scientist, then as research and development manager during ten years.

Domenico Giannone has a well-established, extensive and in-depth knowledge of international research collaborations, such as R&D projects funded by the European Commission. He has been extremely successful in obtaining numerous research grants since the EU FP5 until the very end of the FP7. His engagement as research manager continues now at innoFSPEC within the new EU funding framework, named Horizon 2020 (http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/horizon2020/).
