Institute Conference on Tackling Climate Change at the AIP

Climate change is one of the most important issues facing the world today. Unfortunately, according to a recent series of articles in nature astronomy, as astrophysicists we are responsible for an especially high carbon footprint. In this institute conference, we discuss the main areas of astrophysics where the largest problems are caused, and what the AIP can do to minimise our own impact on the climate.

AGENDA:

ISC: Introduction
Jakob Walcher: Summary of Nature astronomy "The climate issue"
Prof. Matthias Steinmetz: Environmental awareness when designing the Leibniz-Haus and Neubau 3
Arman Khalatyan: AIP Clusters and their carbon footprint
