Dynamical modelling of the most massive galaxies

We have observed 25 of the most massive galaxies within 250 Mpc with VLT/MUSE with the aim to better understand the formation and evolution of these galaxies through their kinematics and stellar populations. The targeted galaxies, which live in the densest structures in the Universe, show a great richness in kinematic features: from regular rotation, kinematically decoupled cores to prolate rotation. I will present the methods we are using to dynamically model these galaxies and will highlight some results, in particular for one extraordinary galaxy which was found to have 3 nested kinematically distinct cores.
