Abstract

Plans for the Southern Hubble Deep Field Campaign are described. The campaign consists of 150 orbits of HST observations of a region of high-galactic latitude. The observations with WFPC2 will be similar to those of the HDF-North campaign in 1995, and will provide additional data for studies ranging from stellar statistics in the Galactic halo, to searches for galaxies at z > 5. Parallel observations will be conducted with STIS and NICMOS. The STIS field contains a QSO at z=2.24, and the STIS observations will be divided roughly half and half between deep imaging and deep UV spectroscopy. NICMOS will carry out imaging in the J,H, and K bands. The observations will take place in October 1998, and the data will be released in November.
