ROSAT ALL-SKY SURVEY Bright Sources

The Röntgensatellite ROSAT is at June 1, 1997 the seventh year in orbit. Its position sensitive proportional counter PSPC produced an all sky survey RASS (besides a lot of pointed observations) in the soft X-ray band (0.5-2.4 keV; 100-5 Angstroem). After the last gaps in the sky coverage were filled, the PSPC was switched off finally in February 1997, due to exhaust of the gas (the high resolution imager HRI is still in operation). A couple of catalogues of different aims are produced. The cover shows the bright source catalogue RASS-BSC in galactic coordinates. The colour codes the hardness ratio of the sources, the size of symbols the flux.
