AIP Observing Time at the LBT

Semester 2011B

The German partners in the Large Binocular Telescope have been allocated a total of 22 nights for the 2011B fall semester, namely October 3-7, October 24-29, December 17-22, and January 27-February 1. The AIP share is almost 3 nights. The optical multi-object spectrograph MODS-I is offered in the one-eyed mode as is the near-IR imager and MOS spectrograph LUCIFER-I. The wide field optical prime focus imager LBC is offered in the two-eyed mode.
Please find here the AIP Call for Proposals
Applications by AIP affiliates should be submitted to the e-mail address: lbtprop@aip.de

Deadline for applications: 8:00AM, Wednesday, June 15, 2011

The proposals will be evaluated by the AIP LBT Time Allocation Committee (TAC)
Further information about the LBT, the instruments, Mt. Graham etc can be found on the LBTO Science and Operations webpage.
Phase II preparations for accepted proposals for the LBT includes a clear description of the observations to be carried out, LUCIFER scripts or LBC Observing Blocks, and the preparation of an ASCII file containing the primary constraints (coordinates, seeing, cloudiness, time constraints, etc). Note that MOS observations require MOS masks to be produced well in advance of the observing run, so data for producing the masks should be made available before July 11'th.
The Phase II material should be send to the e-mail address: lbtprop@aip.de as a gzipped tar-file.

You can find the AIP LBT web page here with additional information to the LBT Observatory and more AIP related information on how to access you data etc.
You can find the LBT science web page here with additional information to the instrumentation as well as to weather conditions on the mountain etc.
