Strategic Instruments

LBC, the Large Binocular Camera. A two channel wide field (23'x23') optical camera.
MODS, the Multi-Object Double Spectrograph. A low to medium resolution optical spectrograph.
LUCIFER, the LBT NIR spectroscopic Utility with Camera and Integral- Field Unit for Extragalactic Research. A near-IR imager and spectrograph for both seeing limited and diffraction limited (adaptive optics) operation.
LINC/NIRVANA, the LBT INterferometric Camera. A near-IR beam combiner and imaging (Fizeau) interferometer with a FOV of 10-20 arcsec square. Is planned to operate also in the optical wavelength region at a later stage.
LBTI, a cryogenic, all reflective, interferometric beam combiner (UBC: Universal Beam Combiner) for the 0.5-20 micron wavelength range. The beam combiner sends the light through the Nulling interferometer (NIL) and on to the Nulling-Optimized Mid-Infrared Camera (NOMIC).
