CCD detector system

First tests of the PEPSI 10k dewar vessel with a mechanical sample of the STA1600D device in the AIP detector lab.

Preliminary design for 10kx10k CCD dewar.

Quantum efficiency curve for the blue arm CCD (383-569nm).

The CCD camera unit consists of the following parts:

2 science cameras each with a back-illuminated thinned 10.3kx10.3k STA1600D CCD.

STA1600D specifications:
polycrystalline silicon gates, 10580x10560 pixels, 9 micrometer size, 95x95 mm imaging area, 100% fill factor, 16 10-MHz amplifiers, full-, half- & quarter-frame transfer option, 3-phase image area & readout registers. First wafer run successful at DALSA (03-06/2006). Thinning at ITL in 2008 and 2009.
ARC 8-channel video processing controller. Two of these controllers run one CCD chip.
CryoTiger closed cycle cooling.
Entire instrument is remotely controlled (based on STELLA robotics concept). See http://www.aip.de/stella .
