Scientific interests:
- Turbulence in the ISM - What causes it? How important is turbulence in
the overall picture of the star formation process? Does turbulence in the ISM
ultimately determine the stellar initial mass function (IMF)?
- MHD simultaions - How important are magnetic fields in determining the
dynamics of the ISM? Can magnetic instabilities such as the magnetorotational
instability play an important role in the context of the ISM?
- The multi-phase ISM - Does the ISM exist in two distinct phases (this
is the classical view - a warm phase and a cold phase in thermal equilibrium)?
How do turbulence and thermodynamics interact to structure the temperatures and
densities of the ISM?
