Solar and Stellar Activity Cycles

Program as of June 28, 2006

We have three half-day sessions which will consist of 20-min invited talks (plus 10-min discussions) on the key problems of solar and stellar activity (as listed below). Poster viewing will be possible during the entire meeting and possibly also during coffee breaks (at the moment we do not know yet where the JD8 posters will be located - or how many there are ...).
Session 1: Solar activity cycle in the interior, atmosphere and corona
(Thursday, Aug. 17; 14:00-17:30; room "Club A")
14:00-14:30 J. Toomre (USA)    Solar-cycle variations of the internal structure, differential rotation, and meridional circulation
14:30-15:00 J. Wang (China)    Evolution of the solar magnetic fields
15:00-15:30 E. Benevolenskaya (Russia)    Polar magnetic field reversal
15:30-16:00     —  coffee break  —
16:00-16:30 S. Berdyugina (Switzerland)    Flip-flop cycles in solar and stellar activity
16:30-17:00 P. Ambroz (Czech Republic)    Large-scale patterns, complexes of solar activity and 'active longitudes'
17:00-17:30 S. Solanki (Germany)    Variations of solar irradiance
Session 2: Observations of stellar magnetic activity and cycles
(Friday, Aug. 18; 09:00-12:30; room "Club A")
