There are two airports in Berlin:
- Tegel Airport and
- Schönefeld Airport.
Many airlines arrive at Tegel Airport, while low-cost airlines typically arrive at Schönefeld Airport.
A taxi ride from either of the
airports to Potsdam Telegrafenberg will cost around 50 EUR. If
you prefer public transport, proceed as follows:
(i) From Tegel Airport to Potsdam by public transport
Take the X9 bus from directly outside the Airport to Zoologischer Garten
(leaves every ten minutes). Buy a three-zone-ticket (ABC) for
3 EUR at either the machine or from the bus driver; it is valid for
2 hours and all the way to Potsdam. The bus stops directly
outside the station "Zoologischer Garten". In the station,
take the RE1 train from tracks 3 or 4 to Brandenburg or Magdeburg (every 30 minutes).
Leave at Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Leave the station by the exit
towards the big time table hanging from the ceiling. Proceed with (iii).
(ii) From Schönefeld Airport to Potsdam by public transport
A roofed foot path leads from the airport to the train station Schönefeld.
Take the train RB22 to Potsdam-Hauptbahnhof which usually leaves every hour (from Monday till Friday):53 minutes, otherwise every two hours (8:53, 10:53,...18:53). It takes 54 minutes. Note that there are two trains
leaving on the same track. Follow the signs to "Potsdam" for the correct train. These trains require a
zone BC ticket. If you decide to travel through Berlin you need to buy an ABC ticket. The price for the bus SXF2 (from Monday till Friday) is 7.50 EUR or a BC ticket + 5 EUR. The second option allows you to use further transport in Potsdam. Proceed with (iii).

(iii) From Potsdam Hauptbahnhof to Telegrafenberg
From Monday till Friday you can go by bus 691 (Bus schedule)
from Potsdam-Hauptbahnhof till campus Telegrafenberg. When the bus is not operated, it is a 15-minute walk uphill. Follow the blue motorway signs
to A10 and turn left where there is a sign to "Wissenschaftspark Albert Einstein".
(iv) To the hotels
For Hotel Mercure, it is best to get off at Potsdam-Hauptbahnhof and take the tram for one stop or walk over to the other side of the river Havel.
For hotels with zip code 14482, it is best to get off at Babelsberg. A good site to find your way in Potsdam is
an interactive map which shows the precise bus and tram routes.

By car
From nearly all directions, the simplest way to Potsdam is via the Berliner Ring (A10), exit 17 Potsdam-Süd/Michendorf, subsequently following the road B2 to Potsdam. 600 metres past the 'Potsdam' city limit sign, turn right into 'Brauhausberg' street. After 1.2 km, turn right again into 'Albert-Einstein'-street (signposted 'GeoForschungsZentrum'), which will lead directly to the entrance of the campus.
