I am a Professor for Astrophysics at the
University of Potsdam, in a joint appointment with
the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP). There I am the head of
the research division "Galaxies and Quasars".
I regularly teach at Uni Potsdam.
In my research I am interested in the origin and evolution of galaxies, with particular emphasis on Active Galactic Nuclei and their host galaxies. I am involved in several large spectroscopic survey project: CALIFA, MUSE, and HETDEX. For details see my Research web pages .
