Project Objectives
  • We are carrying out a multi-wavelength study of a sample of BCD galaxies, focussing in those aspects related to thir star-formation and evolution. We interested in:
  • tracing the star-formation history
  • characterisation of stellar populations
  • measure the dynamic mass of these galaxies, which allow to determine the total stellar mass and dark matter mass.
  • Look for signatures indicatives of possible merger or interaction phenomena that could be starting the star-formation process.
  • Traditional spectroscopic techniques have proven to be limited and inefficient to study in detail this kind of obejcts. In fact, these studies are subject to some assumptions and error sources:
  • We need to assume a homogeneous emission within each knot of star-formation
  • We have also to assume that the extinction derived in that portion of the galaxy, sliced by the slit, is the same for the whole galaxy.
