3D of AGN Current research on active galactic nuclei is focused on the role that the host galaxy plays in fuelling the central engine, and the influence of its own activity on the galactic environtment. On one hand, the activity could be related to morphological structures (bars, rings, etc) or interaction phenomena, which generally go with AGN. On the other hand, nuclear activity involves phenomena of energy ejection that could be perturbing the galactic medium.
