DESCRIPTION:Speaker: George Efstathiou (Cambridge)\nTitle: The Evidence fo
r Dynamical Dark Energy\nAbstract: The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrumen
t (DESI) collaboration has\nmeasured baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) fea
tures over a wide range\nof redshifts with unprecedented precision. They a
rgue that the data\nprovide evidence for evolving dark energy\, quoting 's
ignificance'\nlevels of 2.5-4.5 sigma depending on which additional data (
CMB\nanisotropies and supernovae) are added to the BAO data. The favoured\
nmodel of dynamical dark energy is unusual\, requiring phantom-like\nbehav
iour at high redshift. I will present a different way of looking\nat the D
ESI data that provides simple and robust tests of consistency\nwith the LC
DM cosmology. I find no evidence for a deviation from LCDM\nand my analysi
s explains the degeneracy direction in the w_0-w_a plane\nfound by the DES
I collaborations. I will summarize some recent work on\ntype Ia Supernova
(SN) that supports my earlier claims that SN\ncatalogues are not yet accur
ate enough to constrain models of\ndynamical dark energy.\n
