DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Prof. Rogemar Riffel (UFSM\, Brazil)\nTitle: BAH - Bl
owing star formation away in Active galactic nuclei Hosts\nAbstract: In th
is talk\, I will present recent results from the Blowing star formation aw
ay (BAH) project\, which aims to explore the interplay between AGN feeding
and feedback through multiwavelength observations of nearby AGN hosts wit
h strong H2 emission in the mid-infrared. JWST MIRI MRS and NIRSpec IFU ob
servations of three BAH galaxies reveal molecular and ionised gas outflows
and indicate that shocks are the dominant mechanism exciting the warm H2.
These results are complemented by the analysis of a larger sample of ~60
nearby galaxies using archival MIRI MRS observations. AGNs exhibit broader
emission lines than star-forming galaxies (SFGs)\, with the largest veloc
ity dispersions found in radio-strong AGNs. H2 is generally less turbulent
than the ionised gas\, while coronal-line emitting gas exhibits even high
er velocity dispersions. Taken together\, these results point to shock hea
ting as an\nimportant mechanism shaping the kinematics and excitation of t
he ISM. This shock-induced gas heating may represent an important mechanis
m of AGN feedback\, preventing the gas from cooling and forming new stars.
