International Tuesday

The Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP) invited on 21 September 2021 to an evening all about astronomy within the event series International Tuesday. Scientists from the institute gave an insight into their field of research, played music on a rainbow and invited the public to join in. From observing the Sun to stars in the Milky Way and other galaxies, the researchers guided us through the fascinating science that tries to unlock the secrets of our universe.

DAS NETZ

In July and August 2021, scientists from the AIP were once again part of the ensemble of a performative event. In "DAS NETZ", a follow-up event to "Zeitbrücken" of the previous year, researchers as well as artists told, sang, danced, played music and guided through the science park "Albert Einstein" on Potsdam's Telegrafenberg - an event of experimental science communication for all senses, directed by Philip Baumgarten.

Various events take place at the AIP, both on the Babelsberg campus and at its historic site on Potsdam's Telegrafenberg.

Babelsberg Starry Nights

Our popular lecture series is now taking place online. Usually on the third Thursday of each month, a new lecture by an AIP scientist is broadcast on the YouTube channel Urknall, Weltall und das Leben from 6 p.m.. The dates, speakers and topics as well as links to the previously published lectures can be found on this website (German):

This link can also be found in our flyer and the dates are also entered in the AIP Calendar.

Please note: all the talks are given in German.

Normally, the Great Refractor on Telegrafenberg can be experienced in action during winter: Visitors get to look at the stars through the historical telescope during our observation evenings. The dates will be announced well in advance.

Currently there are no observation evenings planned.

The AIP is regularly represented with a booth and lectures at the Potsdam Science Day and/or opens the Great Refractor and the Einstein Tower for the Berlin-Potsdam Long Night of the Sciences. Whether the AIP will also be present this year is going to be announced here or in the programme of the respective event.
