Style guide

Here are a few tips that editors should consider when editing pages.

• Create Content in German and English if possible
  • to address a wider audience
  • at least one German and English page title is required, otherwise the page cannot be saved
  • with e.g. deepl.com texts can be translated quite fast and with high quality
• Ensure a balanced text-image ratio
  • no long text blocks, but alternating text and images
  • introductory texts on the pages of (research) sections should not be longer than the corresponding teaser image (in desktop views with > 1200 px width)
• Insert images of the same size and aspect ratio
  • The images on a page should have the same size and aspect ratio for a uniform appearance, i.e. select e.g. size 'small' and aspect ratio '1:1' when editing your images. Wagtail will then automatically crop the images to the same size. The focus point of images can be set via 'Edit Image', so that e.g. a person in the image always remains visible, even if he or she is not in the center.
  • Different image sizes can also be used, if for example an image that extends over the entire width of the image is alternated with smaller images or 3 images arranged next to each other.
• Upload images always with image credits
• Do not use tables
  • Tables are usually not displayed well on mobile devices, so you should avoid them if possible
• Use HTML only in exceptional cases
