Virtual Babelsberg Starry Night

Talk (in German): The Magnificent Seven – Seven 'naked' neutron stars in the X-ray sky (Axel Schwope)

On Thursday, starting at 6 p.m., Dr. Axel Schwope's answer video to questions on his lecture "The Magnificent Seven – Seven 'naked' neutron stars in the X-ray sky" from the Babelsberg Starry Night series will be online.

With more than 71,000 views, a large number of questions and comments have accumulated under the video since March 2022. Axel Schwope answers some of them, including those on topics such as possibility of magnetic fields on neutron stars, subatomic particles, the stability of neutron star matter "outside" and the movement of these noble stars.

This season, the Babelsberg Starry Nights will not take place on site at the AIP, but will come straight to your home: on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. The lectures are available at

or via the YouTube channel Urknall, Weltall und das Leben (Big bang, the Universe and Life) and can be viewed at any time afterwards.
