Title: Multi-scale nature and consequences of solar eruptions
Abstract: The Sun is an active star that manifests its activity in various manners. The most prominent forms of solar eruptions are flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). This seminar will first give an overview of CMEs and their internal structure from global to kinetic scales, introducing the key concepts such as shock waves, sheath, and magnetic flux ropes. Then their consequences are discussed. These structures each cause distinct variations in the heliospheric plasma and field conditions that can disturb the planetary environments in distinct ways.
