Dr. Kalaga Madhav
Research interests :
- Inverse design of photonics
- Nanophotonics
- Photonics for ground- and space- based astronomy
I head the Astrophotonics Research Group in innoFSPEC at AIP. My research group consists of 7 postdocs, 5 PhD students, 3 masters students, and student assistants. The team is currently developing :
- AFBG OH-emission filters for ground-based telescopes
- Arrayed Waveguide Gratings (AWG) based high R spectrographs for ground- and space -based astronomy
- Micro-ring resonator based ultra-stable frequency combs for astronomy
- Photonic lanterns (PL)
- Adaptic Optics (AO)
- Beam combiners (DBC) and pupil re-mappers
- Technology transfer from astronomy : detecting skin cancer and micro-plastics through Raman spectroscopy using astronomical spectrographs.
