Book a Scientist: Speeddating the world of science
One more year, the AIP is taking part in the Leibniz Association’s “Book a Scientist” event. This offers people the chance to speak to an expert for 25 minutes and ask questions about their favourite topic.
Dr Jean-Michel Désert from the AIP will be discussing the fascinating topic ‘Exoplanets: The New Worlds and the Quest for Life Therein’. This will focus on distant planets outside our solar system and the question whether life could be possible there.
Since November 2025, Jean-Michel Désert heads the group “Exoplanets and Their Atmospheres” at the AIP. Highly precise observations and state-of-the-art computer simulations are providing new insights into climate processes and atmospheric chemistry on faraway worlds. The aim is to better understand exoplanetary systems and to find evidence of potentially habitable exoplanets and biosignatures in alien planetary systems.
