Anastasia Marchuk

I am a doctoral candidate at the AIP in the Dwarf Galaxies and the Galactic Halo section. Under the supervision of Dr. Lara Cullinane, my thesis studies the stellar halo of the Magellanic Clouds, in particular the LMC. I will primarily use spectroscopic data from the 1001MC survey at 4MOST to search for and characterize the stellar halo of the LMC. We will investigate the galaxy's interaction history, and possible formation mechanisms of the halo.

I completed my MSc at the University of Padova in Italy, studying binary stars in the open cluster NGC 2158. I found that the binary fraction decreases with the mass of the primary star, in agreement with the fraction in the Galactic field. The CMD extends to ~0.1 solar masses, and reveals an M-dwarf discontinuity. My BSc thesis studied pickup He+ ion waves in Ulysses data.
