Galaxy correlations at the smallest and at the largest scales

The ALHAMBRA survey has mapped ~3 deg2 using a set of 23 filters, down to a magnitude I~24.5. Its depth and accurate photometric redshifts makes this catalogue an optimal dataset to study the evolution of the clustering of galaxies down to very small scales (r ~ 20 kpc/h), only limited by the seeing. We have studied this small-scale clustering in order to constrain the distribution of satellite galaxies inside dark matter haloes and to test standard models for their radial density profiles up to redshift z~1. The talk will end with a brief description of the on-going J-PAS survey. We expect to measure positions and redshifts for more than 14 million red, luminous red galaxies (LRGs) with L>L* and an apparent magnitude equivalent to iAB < 22.5. In the redshift interval 0.1 < z < 1.2, we expect a photo-z precision of σz ∼ 0.003(1+z), reaching a galaxy density high enough to ensure an error in the determination of the BAO scale not limited by shot noise.
